Default Winter storage and T-tops?

When you park your C-3 for the winter, Do you leave the T-tops on or remove them? Somepeople tell me the gaskets will stay in better shape if you remove the tops?

I leave mine on but the gaskets are already shot!

But it might be a good idea, when I re-do the gaskets....

No exp. w/ winter storage. Would definitely leave on. The T-Top weatherstrip on mine is original & does not leak. Just Armourall from time to time.

If your concerened about weatherstripping, just unlatch then to relieve the pressure.

Do you leave the doors open in the winter time also? If you need to do something special for the T-Top weatherstrip, then I guess you'd need to consider all the other areas also. Leave the windows down too, so there's no pressure on that weatherstrip.

OK, I fail to see why you need to do anything special. The heat in the summer time would do more damage to weatherstriping than winter cold.

Killain,
I have been storing my 72 for 30 years with the t-tops in place and the original weather stripping . Still original and no leaks.

Leave them on and latched.....thats the best way to prevent warping. Some t-tops don't line up or have uneven gaps along the center line due to warping. Never store t-tops standing on edge leaning against a wall. If you have to leave the tops off for an extended period, best to lay them flat with the interior side up. This is very important with the Moonroofs glass tops as well as they tend to warp easily and quickly. :yesnod:

I leave my T-tops on during winter storage, just put on some Armour All like Ganey said. Have not had any problems in 4 years.

I leave the Tops on, but release the latches.
I replaced the weatherstrip some 5-6 years ago and it still is like new.
Armour all helps for sure! I read a paper where a guy soaked his brittle ws in AA and it came out (after a few months) smooth and almost like new (the ws for his car wasn´t in production anymore)
