polishing aluminium rims-theres gotta be an easier way
cleaned my alumium stock rims on my 1980 today..i used mothers polish and boy it takes a long time with a lot of rubbing..there has to be a spray or way to either make this easier or a way to coat the rims once finished so they wouldnt have to do this so often,....any ideas

Assuming that you have removed the factory clearcoat, there is no way that I have found other than a monthly cleanup with Wenol or similar. Eastwood has a spray can clear coat but I haven't tired it.

Razz ,,,, go to your local hardware store and purchase a linen buffing wheel about 3" in dia. . Try to find one mounted on a 1/4 inch arbor that you can use in your electric drill. This will save you a lot of elbow grease and time . Once they are polished they become quite easy to keep shiny .
G

Very fine steel wool used with the polish helps. Once the job is done it is easy to maintain.

I used my Black & Decker buffer with a wool pad and Mothers. It helped to take the valve stems out. Wear glasses or a face shield. 0000 grade steel wool helps a lot. Hey it's quality time with your vette!!

(on my old '79 Corvette)
I did it the long way, but boy did it make a difference!! I took each wheel off seperately and took it into the living room, layed it out on an old blanket, and hand cleaned/polished it with Mother's.
It was well worth the extra effort!!

Try Duragloss Aluminum Polish. It works good, still some scrubbing but with less effort than mothers.
