Top dash pads VS. Dash top cap
Has anybody had any experience with the dash top caps are they worth it or should i just spend the extra $200 on a new dash top pad? Also how hard is it to take off the original dash pad? Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Speaking from my own personal experience with two of them; DON'T, eventually they warp and look real bad. if you are unloading the car and the dash is real bad maybe, i'd be inclined to find a used replacement.

I used the complete dash cover for my 80. Not the same as just the cap. It came color keyed from Corvette Central. $110.00 +s&h. I had to do a lot of triming to get it too fit. It looks ok now that it's in. I just didn't want to go through the extra expence ($500.00) and work for a new dash. :D Good Luck, L8TER, Paul.

I had the same decision to make. I cracked my old one trying to get it out to install new speakers. I found a dark saddle "imperfect" pad from Corvette Central On Line for 200 bucks. It uses the speaker mounts and clips from your old dash. It came with instructions and popped right into place. It looks great!! I was afraid with years of silicone protectents that i am sure were used on the old dash, the cover never would have glued properly. Someone who owned the car before me covered the door panels and now they are bubbling and un-gluing from the door. I am going to buy new ones at some point. If you are going to keep the car......do it right.
