Default transmition adjustments..help wanted

aloha..my friend adjusted the transmition (linkage maybe) in the engine bay..it was sloppy before but now when it shifts gears it clunks..it also chirps every time from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd..thats not to bad but at slow speeds it changes very quickly and goes clunk and u can feel it ..how do i adjust this so it will shift smoother..this is a 1980 L-82 auto..thanx all

Some more details of what your friend did would help, but if he was under the hood, he might have closed off the vacuum to the adjustable vacuum modulator at the back of the intake. You can see it in this pic . It's the top line of the nipple directly in front of the distributor.

I'm not sure what else you could do from under the hood. Hope this helps.
