"STUPID CHEVY!" .. need help (non vette related)
while driving my 95 S10 4cyl to meet some girls tonite, i pulled into a pizza place and shut my truck off.. i did some things behind the seat and after i met the 2 girls went to start my truck and the battery was toast. cranking slow and clicking etc... so I'm really pissed that my truck would do this to me when i needed it the most. but after about 2 hours i was dropped off at the pizza place to try and start it. and it started up no problem and was reading a constant 12-14 volts on the meter.. anyone care to give me a little advise on what this problem is.. ???

Could be bad contact at the terminals, starter heat soak, starter was jammed, or it just didn't like the looks of the girls you were scamming.

The starter gets very hot from the engine running and will not start until it cools off. VWs are very prone (not that you have one)

well whatever it is I'm not happy with this truck. I've had nothing but problems left and right. Time to sell.

Don't blame Chevy, sounds like a bad battery to me.
You see "heat soak" in the V8's, never heard of it on a 4.
I would get that battery checked out.

check your battery connections, clean them up and put some electrical type grease on them to prevent corrosion. if they are the side terminal type connection, these sometimes get loose. in fact, i carry a 5/16ths wrench in the vette just to tighten mine up.

What Gary said. If you like the truck, this is an easy fix and no reason to think about dumping it. Personally, doesn't sound like connections to me. First thing I'd do is go get the battery itself tested (free at most parts stores). Then clean stuff up. If there's still a problem, get the starter tested (also free). Then the alternator. It's pretty much got to be one of those things--heatsoak on a 4-banger is very unlikely.
And what the hell are you doing chasing tail in a mini-truck? To girls Corvette="love monkey" & Mini truck="I work at McDonalds".

A friend of my wife called me last Sunday to come help her. Her Blazer died in the intersection and would not start again. I gathered up everything I could think of and we piled in the Avalanche to go get her. Turns out the positive post was corroded to the point that it wasn`t allowing enough voltage to pass. Wire brushed everything and it fired right up and has been doing so ever since. I would check all the battery connections first. Check to see what battery voltage is with motor off. Should be close to 12 or better. Check to see what the battery voltage is with engine running should be 14 or better. If not could be the alternator has died on you and is not charging the battery. If you have 14 volts while running drive the truck for about 30 minutes and come home and recheck battery voltage with engine off and see if battery voltage has come up any. If it is not 12 or better could be the battery.
Hope this helps. :D

thanx for the heads up guys.. I'll check it out as soon as i get off my lazy butt. as far as past problems.. Smacked the oil filter against the motor mount 3 times in a month. Frayed a wire for the ecm one nite. smoked the clutch twice. bent the input shaft to the tranny :blueangel: . cracked a head gasket. didnt properly torque the head thus siezing the engine at 68K miles. blew synchros.

I had the same thing happen on my '91 w/ the 2.8. It came completely out of the blue. It started it, drove 1/2 mile. Tried to start it 30 min later... completely dead! After a new starter and battery, I replaced the $5 battery cable... It fixed it.
