1969 Corvette Windshield Frame Repair?
Hello,
I just Bought a 1969 Corvette. It has alot of windshild frame rust all the way down the pillars. I Bought a rust free Windshield frame from Just Corvettes. I was told that i have to remove the body off the frame to do the job. Anyway I live in the Houston Texas area and would like to know it any one know's how much this would cost and who would do the work. I would be replacing the whole windshield frame and the pillars. thanks Blane

Re: 1969 Corvette Windshield Frame Repair? (Blane Johnson)
As far as I know it is not necessary to have the frame off in order to replace the windshield. But I have not done this, so maybe wait until you get some more opinions. It should be possible to change the windshield frame when the front clip is removed. There was a post on the factory correct forum where you can see a 67 with front end removed. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=221472 With the car looking like this you should be able to change the windshield frame.

I replaced the windshield frame on my 72 without having the body off. It is very tricky, and some cars need the front clip off to do it, I can't remember the reason why the clip might have to be removed, but thankfully mine didn't! Including the used frame and labor, it cost me around $3000 Canadian, which is about $2000 US. Definately not cheap. It is a labor-intensive job. I can email you some pics if you want.

Check with the Texas DOT inspection office to get the full details on the VIN. Don't remove it until you do. You can create one hell of a headache if you don't have it straight first.

Those star rivets in the VIN tag can be very hard to find. If they're missing, then the car isn't worth 2c. If you can find some, then it's no problem.
