334 Horsepower at 5500 RPM
354 foot pounds of torque at 4000 RPM

Sounds like a nice motor.

Thanks 1979toy, thats better than I expected. I ran it last Mon. with the hood off, sun was out here, huge difference, especially off the line. Then came the snow and ice and the vette returned to the garage.
By the way, your ride's not to shabbie either, I almost went for the XE262 cam, thought it might be to much cam for our Sunday drives :D :D

My motor is OK, but I'm already browsing the catalogs and planning my next one. It's a "someday" project right now though. I've got to rebuild the front suspension and add a transmission cooler before I do any more motor work.

Steve

You might want to try it again. Max. about 300 @ 5000.

Bill

You're right, if you get better heads w/ 2.02/1.60 you could easily be at 335.
If the sidepipes mufflers are stock, they probably need help like spiral.

Nope. I just went over my numbers again. Came up with the same figures. I'll send you both an e-mail on my sheet.

I'm with Ganey! I ran it with DD2000 and if you call it low performance with pocket porting 1.94/1.5 it's 322 hp @5000 and 376 tq @4000 Low performance heads stock which is closer to 882 heads is 271 hp @ 4500 and 361 tq at 3500.

So it's between the two sets of numbers

At one time somebody posted a link to DD2000 cam files. It would help allot to get those again. Because I went out to the SORRY CC site and you have to dig to get the .006 or seat to seat valve events. It would be so much better if they rated at .050 which is closer to the trueth. I told them that their web site sucked before. They just laughed at me!

So today I tried to do a search on 268H "No Matches found" So you have to go out to a PDF file and look up the number and back out. then do a search on the part number and ask for cam specs. Everybody should send them hate their site e-mail :cuss

I use my PAW catalog to get the part number of the cam before I go so their site - you can then go straight to it. I do miss the earlier version they had which was just a searchable databse of text files. much easier to navigate.

I also agree with ganey - 300hp is much more likely with that combo - remember that DD2000 is a bit generous at low rpm. I have been completely unable to duplicate a factory L-82 motor on it. All of the numbers exceed the factory listing and they do so at a much lower RPM level.

1979 toy,
Can you please run another desktop with the same combo as Wes 76, but with a 383, 2.02 intake valves, 1.6 exh. valves, and a 9.2 comp ratio, and an edelbrock 750 carb. thanx, Bob Myers, NC

gkull, I agree their website blows, but their catalog is very comprehensive.
It's got what you need and then some :smash:
Send 'em 15 bucks for it and they will throw in a t-shirt
The catalog can be had on cd also

Ganey-
I think Steve ran the wrong cam, I used a High Energy 268H nit a XE 268H, Big difference in lift. The larger cam woulh not have helped with the 882 heads, they flow pretty well up to .400 but after that its all over, I think...
I hope someone could run it again using the cs268H cam with .454 max lift.

Thanks all for your efforts, 334HP was sounding awfully good for a cam and intake swap. I was hoping for 300HP at least....

Wes76-
Using the CS 268 H cam I get

HP 322 @ 5000

TQ 375 at 3500

I'm using the GM 882 head flow data from http://www.aros.net/~rbuck/dyno2000/Welcome.html
That could be the reason we don't agree on the numbers.
