Anyplace that you can get the motor delivered to you for less than the sales tax if you bought it in your own state.

I have done my share of crate engine "surfing". Scoggin Dickey has a good website and seems to have good prices.

Did you get quotes on an engine rebuild? With GM crate engines, while there are many choices, to me it seems for our cars the basic choice is between the 454 HO 425 hp engine, and the 502/502. I think the 454 is more of a direct replacement - you can use the stock mechanical fuel pump.

Are you considering doing the swap yourself? MJ

I am seriously considering installing a new engine in my 80 Coup and so far ENGINE FACTORY.COM has the lead. I am looking at a 383 Stroker. It's advertised at 450 HP/ 496 Torque. So far they have been very cordial and excited to answer my questions. They have free shipping and a turn key Stroker already broke in ready to install. Their warrenty is 90 days. They pay shipping their and back if you have to have warrenty work done and also pay you $300 if someone has to take it back out for you. Try them and see what you think. By the way, a 383 Stroker Turn Key Crate Engine delievered to your door is $5299. If you go with a crate engine that's not a turn key, you will find that by the time you get all the necessities added, you'll be around the 5000-5500 mark.

If a warranty is important, GM has a 36month 50,000 mile warranty.

MNJack - still weighing the options on rebuild or replace. The current motor is not the original 427. I have to recheck the numbers on it to see exactly what it started out as. My local mechanic would rather see me replace than rebuild. He likes the warranty and reliability of the new motor.

I bought mine from soggins dickey. 3499 for zz4 and free shipping. Dont know if the free shipping sale is still going on tho, I did this over thanksgiving...good luck. I wish I could drive my car :( :(....getting her back from the body shop tommorrow. Some ***hole bumped her in a parking lot and took off, put a crack in the fiberglass so I had all her little cracks fixed and had her get new paint. Hopefully it will look good...there goes all my tax money :(

I'll second MNJack's vote for Scoggins-Dickey. I bought my block from them because their prices are very good, and more importantly, their customer service is great. They always respond to my phone calls and emails right away with accurate information.
