Default 1981 L82 on ebay?

Granted, '81 4sp vettes are rare, but I wonder what makes him/her think it's an L82.

What valve covers did the L82 use? My L81 has cast/finned ones. Also has an aluminun intake. Maybe these confused him.

No, I haven't, but would like to. The '80 is worlds apart from the '79, which is completely stock, and maybe a little tired with 120k miles. The '80 is still running the stock compression ratio, and 2-1-2 exhuast (with a high flow cat), so I'm thinking that aftermarket heads and a true dual exhaust might help out quite a bit.

Gerry,
The L-82 used the aluminum finned covers while the L-48 used the steel, stamped and painted covers. The pic area of the Forum is not available so I cannot post a photo.

Interesting question. Some 36,485 of 40,606 1981s produced had the RPO N90 aluminum wheels. What wheels did the others have? I do not know.

I find it funny that the Jimkanna ( actually spelled Gymkhana) suspension is supposedly only used on manual transmissions, when there was 7,803 made and only 5,757 manual transmission cars produced. Must have stuck 2 suspension packages in about 2000 of those manuals.

I don't know, maybe he edited his ad, but I don't see any reference to an L82, only that it is a rare 4-speed. By the way, those wheels look like Rally Wheels.

I didn't think the ralley wheels would look good on an 80-82 vette. Those rims look very impressive on there! Fro like! :jester

Now I'm confused......I did not see any reference to L-82 designation in the ad. Also the ralley wheels were stock up to 1980 I believe, so that may be incorrect on this Vette. The rocker covers should be all black, not bright silver. No bids so far and the bidding starts at $8500.00 Also there is a reserve price. How could a car of any type be purchased on ebay?? Let alone a Vette?? I'm sure there are people who by cars on ebay, maybe even CF members. How does an individual buy something he/she cannot inspect first?? Is there a built in clause that states if I do not like the vehicle I'm not going to take it?? Just my 2 Cents worth. :D L8TER, Paul.

I'm not a historian of Vettes, so don't flame me, but I think they did have L-82's in 81 and I had an 80 automatic with a package (Z51? or something like that) with the Gymkhana suspension, not that it needed it.

Paul,
He edited the ad and took the reference to L-82 out. He must be lurking here on the forum!
