Front speakers for 1980 vette?
I just installed my new audio system for Custom Autosounds. The S-1 unit has a separate control head for the tuner and CD changer (mounted control head to the center T-top bar just above the rear view mirror), small RF tuner (hidden under the dash) and separate CD changer (rear storage compartment).
I did this to free up the console space normally used for the radio to mount new gauges. The control head has an LCD for the tuner and CD. Also has an IR remote which I'll never use.
Now what I need is new front speakers that require no modifications to fit. I put in a set of Polks two years ago and they have already gone. FYI the unit has 25 watts per channel so I'm not using serious power. Any recommendations?

A head unit will never put out 25 watts per channel, look at the gauge of the wire that supplies power to the unit. They advertise it that way, but it win't so you shouldn't have to worry about power too much. I put a set of Kicker coaxial 4x6s in my 78. Had to do some slight modification due to the much larger magnet, sound awesome though.

I used Kenwood Excelon 4X6's, sound great fit perfect, these are the top of the line speakers, and only go for $100/pair due the small size of all 4X6's. You Can check them out at Crutchfield.com
