Default Cheap 6 speed

Anybody know much about a Borg Werner T56? I think i can get one complete with everything (clutch, pressure plate, master, slave, pedals, crossmember...) for $1500. Anybody know how strong they are, and how the swap would be into an 80? I really like the idea of a 6 speed, especially the .5 t0 1 overdrive and 4.11's or something. Burnout AND cruise :D

Do you know what the transmission is out of? Sounds like a pretty decent deal if everything is in good shape.

That's in line with used market prices.

It is out of a 97 f-body, and it comes with a short warranty. They are supposed to be rated to 450ft. lbs, and I should be near there. The only thing I hope i dont have to do is shorten the driveshaft, but i think the tranny is the same length as a 700r4, so it will need to be shortened.

You might look at this website to get some information on 6 speeds. www.chevelles.com/techref/tecref21

Have you considered a 5spd O/D ? You can get a brand new Tremec from Fortes for not much more and it may be stronger :) .

Is this the price for a new or used transmission? Where could I get this transmission for that price??

Do a search on this site. There are 1 or 2 6 speed conversion cars here that have been posted on. I think they said enlargement of the tunnel, new crossmember, and shifter relocation are all necessary.

The tranny is used with low mileage, and if i don't want it, i will give you the number for it. He may even have 2 of them. I'll let you know what i find out.

Sounds like a awful lot of work... It's probably easier to install a Richmond 6-speed.....
