My 4.11 gears are in the mail to me right now. I feel certain that I will need Drag Radials with these(I ran 13.1 with my 3.36 gears and 235/60 tires). Can you recommend a brand (longevity is an issue, 'cause I drive it on the street). Also, should I look into a 28in tire, or stick with a 26? What about the width? I have a '74 Vette with 78-82 "Slotted Mags" on it. I don't want to go through too much of a hassle trying to get them to fit. Also, who has the best prices on these?

Would I be better off with just a slick? Will they last as long on the street as Drag Radials?

When I lived in Baton Rouge, we could not run slicks on the street. I'm sure most, if not all states have this law. The tire has to have some kind of tread on it. Some guys would cut 3 grooves in their slicks in an attempt to be "legal".

BFG Drag Radials offer the best traction but the Nitto's will last longer. If you are spending most of your time on the street then the Nitto's will probably be better for you. I like the BFG's because they hook pretty damn well.

As far as sizes go, the 275-60-15 is about as much tire as you can get in the wheelwell without trigger work.

Be carefull of getting to tall of a tire. I have 275/60's and it takes out a lot of gear :(

I run Radial T/A's on the street and BFG Drag radials on the track. The Drag radials are nice and stickey, but have real soft sidewalls, not good for corners!

What about the 275 50 15 drag radial. The 60 series is to tall. The 50 series is 26.1 vs 28 for the 60 series. I'm looking at the 50 series myself.

Gordonm congrats on getting in the 12's. Was that on the street tires? I wish I could just try someone's set of drag radials. I know it is just lack of off the line traction keeping me outof the 12's. My best is 13.10 at 105.7 on BFG 235/60/15 street tires. I also have a hard time making attemps at times in the 13's with a convertable. Usually they say :nono: If I go insane I may mount a borrowed hard top on and do more racing this summer. I must be :crazy:

It was on 245 60 15 BFG street radials. I was able to get a 1.93 60 foot time with them. I have a line lock and heat them for about 4 seconds and the traction is much better. Most people say not to heat them up that much but it is working for me. The one track Atco lets me run with the ragtop on. Englshtown won't let me run so that is when I put the hardtop on. I ahve made a couple of runs in the 12s now with the street tires. I'm always looking for more.

The 50's would be better for me, but I've gor 3.70 gears, calculate your RPM's before buying I'm saying...

The drag radials help at the start, so if you think you can shave .1 seconds off your 60' times you'd be golden...
BTW, I ran ONCE on radial T/A's I will never again, they're like Glass compared to Drag radials!

Any chance you can get an extra set of rims for the drag radials and only run them when you go to the track? That way they don't wear out so fast, I don't think my BFG Drag radials would last very long at all if I drove with them on all the time. Just a suggestion and good luck.

Will this fit without modifications?

I really think I'll need the added traction when I get my gears in. I've managed 1.8x sixty-foots on my very old, very hard 235/60/15s.

Do yall think the gears will drop me a half a second with traction?

Holy crap, that is a very impressive 60 ft on street tires. That is what I'm hoping for with drag radials.

That is a good 60' for street tires. My best is a 1.90 but we have different style cars. I have no clue as to how much better a time I would get with a good hook. It's fun trying!

I actually had something with school come up. I'm going to be at an Honor Band that weekend. I was really let down when I found out that I wouldn't be able to make it. I guess I'll just have to catch up with you soon at the track.

My car will be at the track this Friday night. I'm letting a friend run it. I'm going to be at La Tech for a honor band this weekend, so I can't go to the track.
