Default Aftermarket seats

Does anybody have aftermarket seats in their C3. I am thinking of using lexus or BMW, but would like to see what others have. Thinking of black leather seats and a black stock steering wheel to go on the oyster interior. What do you guys think?

Is it a cardinal sin to use different seats? Even if you are trying to have a pimp rider?

I am with you, half way  . I have 1 aftermarket and 1 original. I will probably try to get another aftermarket to fit since it is so comfy and supportive. Let us know what you find that fits, mine needs to be low profile so I can fit inside with a helmet(I am 6'4").

My 79 seats were trash when I bought it. Picked up two seats out of a mid 80s Olds Calis .Greyish velor. slight mods[lowering] and they fit quite nice with the oster int. Paid $40 for the pair

Inqbus383 - I have the Sparco Ultra race seats. I'm not sure how you get 6'4" in a c-3. I'm considering (79 Vette) cutting out the 2 inch or so raised portion under the drivers seat and redoing it flat.

I presently have the seat back pushed against the carpet and sound insulation in front of the battery.

I have black leather seats that came with my 79 ( i think that was the first year for the new style seats?? correct me if im wrong) but i love them. I got a buddy with a pair of red spearco seats and i like the feel of mine better actually. Of course his arent leather though ;).

When the time comes for the trivial stuff, I'm putting a set of Momo seats in my '68.

gkull - Surprisingly, I can fit just fine with a helmet on with only a little bit of slouching. I have an astrotop, so that helps the headroom. I would be interested in modifying a seat to give the maximum headroom. I also have the seat as far back as it goes. I love your sig image by the way! Great color/angle.

Armstrong - I think it looks great, from both the inside and the outside. The way it attaches in the back isn't ideal, but works. It fixed my major water leak, but I do have a little wind noise in one place. I think I can tweak it to get a better seal. It did require some adjustment just to make it go on, easy though. It also gives more headroom because its so thin. Its also lighter than the glass or fiberglass tops, but still sturdy.

On a side note, I kinda got screwed when I bought it. I didn't ask at the forum, so I just bought it from some guy advertising through ebay. I asked this guy where he got the "holiday overstock", and how it fits. He couldn't remember the name of the company, just the location, and he said it was his car in the picture. Only after I bought it did a post come up here on the forum about astrotops webpage. I found out I paid 25$ for some guy to buy one for me from astrotop and ship it directly to me. I looked at the ebay post later and found that the picture of the car was just a picture linked from the astrotop webpage. I was rather angry, but 25$ isn't worth getting angry about considering that I am happy with the product.

inqbus383 - you need stiffer springs at least 460 to go with 1 1/4. Your getting lots of front lift and rear squat. Stiffer rear & Smart struts for sure!

The 79 seat is a very nice seat it was also in the 78 Indy Pace cars. For any older vette I think a redone 79-82 would be an excellant choice. You kind of sit down in them for extra head room and the sides are nice.
