I've had good luck with the traditional cork gaskets from Fel-Pro. I clean the mating surface on the valve cover really good and glue it down so it is permanently stuck to the cover. Makes taking the covers on and off a breeze.

I just replaced my V-cover gaskets this weekend and used fel-pro cork. After re-painting the covers I rtv'd the gaskets to the covers, set them aside (upside down) till the rtv dried, spread a thin coat of motor oil over the gasket, then installed them. Piece of cake. Great fit, and substantial thickness.

I used Felpro cork too. I agree with Silvr77, presoak the gasket with motor oil. It allows the cork to swell and fit better.

Autozone has 3 types/sizes of Fel-Pro cork, 5/32", 7/32" and high temperature. Which one is best?

I'm using the Fel-Pro gasket that has a metal layer sandwiched between cork. I glued it to the valve cover with Gasgasinch, and just applied some motor oil on the other side. It works great, and should last a long time....
