Replace 72 rear end (3,08) by a 77 rear end (3,55)
Did anyone of you do a change like this before? Are there any things that do not match?
E.g. I noticed that on my 72 rear end, I have U-Joint cap bolts rather than the strap-bolts that I have found on the 77 rear end. I could not try yet, but are these parts interchangeable? Is the measurements of the U-joints and yokes and shafts the same?
I do not want to tear all that appart and find that things do not go together....
Thanx for your input!

Re: Replace 72 rear end (V8yunkie)
Hi Thomas!
Of course you can interchange.
Just open the diff carrier, release the snap rings an pull out the yokes.
Easy job - even for an engineer!!! :D
If in further doubt, call me, I have some diffs laying around that are open, so you can check out how it works! :yesnod:

The rears from 65 to 79 will interchange no problem. I have had a 75 and currently have a 79 rear in the car. The yokes as said before are a swap out. the ones with the caps are the heavy duty yokes.
