Default I bought a Z28

My mini van approached the worthless zone. Cost more to repair than what it is worth. So, I just bought a new 2002 Camaro Z28 to replace it. If the wife doesn't want to drive it, I might have to sell my Vette. :cry

I don't know what to do or think. I just had to vent some of this anxiety right now. That LS1 is some motor though.

nunus79,
Sell the Vette?.........Okay guy, just calm down.....put the pipe down and back away slowly.....Sell everything else....never the Vette....you'll be sorry and wish you had it back.....Why not keep the Vette as a lifetime hobby.....I don't buy cars anymore....no payments......just minimum insurance....and I made the Vette just the way I want a car to be......Congratulations on your new car :) Hope she serves you well....So,......what's she do through the quarter? :seeya Cappy

What happened? He bought a faster car than mine!!! I think the stock Z28's should be running lower 13's than I run.

Congrats on the purchase. I own a 97 Z28 and love it - the mods are plenty and you won't be disappointed by the fuel injected modern muscle. Your LS1 is a mid-low 13 sec car and a few bolt-ons will take you deep into the 12's. Check out http://www.camaroz28.com for hints and tips. Good luck!

Congrats on your new Z. I have 2, a 97 and a 00. Great cars. Wouldn't mind getting a 02 SS, but I can't talk my wife out of her 00. What ever you do, do not sell the Vette. Enjoy...

Another good F-body site: http://www.f-body.org. Get on the mailing lists. Those guys really know what they're doing with these cars.
Congrats on ditching the minivan!!

Norris, It would be a shame to see the vette go after watching you get it to the performance level it has reached. If at all possible, try to keep it no matter what. I agree with the others. You'll regret selling it.
When my wife needed a new car, she was looking at Hondas and Saturns. I finally talked her into the getting the GT Mustang. She really did not want anything that flashy or (god, please forgive me saying the next word in the same paragraph as Mustang).......Powerful. After a day or so of driving it, she was hooked. Unfortunately, she liked it so much that I had to beg her for a turn to drive it. Now, the only way I'll get her to give up that car is to get her a Z-28. Power corrupts women too. Especially horsepower.

No, no. Its not the wife, she's cool. I was hoping that she would "love" it so much that it would be considered "her" car and that I could keep "my" Vette, while daily driving her old car. But she doesn't want to park the Z at her working place's tight stalls. Therefore, I'm going to be the one driving the Z. I don't know what it is, but I feel the responsible thing to do in my situation is to own either the Vette or the Z, not both. Money is an issue, a big issue. Also, at issue is the passenger carrying capability. I need to be able to shuttle 3 passengers on a daily basis. The Vette, for me, can't be my daily driver, for this reason.

I have lost my appetite and still feel kind of blue. This is not the classic buyers remorse kind of thing. I feel I got a real good deal on a real good car. The remorse is coming from accepting the fact that the Vette might have to go.

Ok it has been 3 days so far. What mods have you done? 1/4 mile times? Pics? Kills? Any regret? And how much fun are you having driving that kick butt LS1 around?

Its still an infant. Gotta learn to walk before it'll run (1/4 mile that is) :)
Gotta rack up the break-in mileage. Must do some runs out to Kapolei. I'm trying to still think of financial ways of maybe keeping the Vette in storage or something. If I can't get the right price for it, I might have the grounds to just put her in storage. So what do you guys think, ask about $40,000 for her? Fair enough right? :jester

ZD
You are right, no space here to let her rip for more than a few minutes. I guess that's why we gotta concentrate on quick 1/4 miles. :D

Granted the engine is not broken in yet, I feel the Vette has more low end torque & response than the Z. Ah, too early to really tell. The "cool" factor is very noticeably down when driving the Z vs. the Vette.

Here is your first official offer for your car. $800

Now don't be offended, there is a method to my madness here, if everyone in the c3 section offers you some incredibly low amount, you can legitimatly go to your wife and tell her you have had x offers and the best one so far is $800. See where I am going with this?
