1973 with saGGING DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED? IS IT A MAJOR JOB? HOW TO GET TO THE HINGES?

Check for worn bushings in the hinges - YES, there are bushings!!! They are small brass ones.

Other than that, check connections at the hinges.
You should be able to get to them by removing the interior panels and the small metal piece in your upper door section, outside the weatherstrip.

Yup. It is your bushings. Replace the pins while you are at it. They are available from GM (cheaper than the corvette parts dealers too). You will need to remove the door to get the old pins out. just remove the hinge cover at the top, and the door panel, scribe where the door should go on the hinges, unbolt the hinges and remove the door. If you have wires going into the door, unhook them at the connectors and pull them out. Pull a string with them so you can pull them back in when you are done. Drive out the old pins, put in the new bushings and drive in the new pins, and put the door back on. It is kind of scarry driving in the new top pin. You have to use a long punch and hammer pretty hard, right above the fiberglass :eek: It's real nice to have a door that closes properly though. :yesnod:

Check the bushings first. Open the door just a small amount, hold it at the top just behind the latch and try to move it up and down. If there's movement, the bushings are worn out. Don't open it all the way and try this, because there may not be a lot of movement, even with worn bushings, with the door completely open. If there's not any movement, the door needs to be realigned. This can be done by relocating the hinges and shimming till it's in the correct position.

Just to keep things clear incase someone wants to fab. ther own bushings they are bronze. Brass would wear out in no time

believe it or not you can buy the bushings and pins at your local auto parts store in the HELP section and their cheaper than GM or Corvette shops :D
