Where in the heck are the casting dates on a L-36 at
I am trying to sell my L-36 and the potentail buyers of course want the casting dates on the heads and block. I found the ones on the heads, but not the block. To add to the problem my motor is in a differant state so I have to rely on a buddy to go over and look for them. So far no luck. The block was repainted, are they so fine this could cover them. Could someone tell me exactly where I should tell my buddy to look :chevy

At the rear to the right (passanger side) of the distributor. Will be in the format of B129 for Feb 12 69.

Tom The only thing I can invision by your answer is the intake manifold. What do you mean by the rear of the distributor. Is it on ther back of the block. I am probably asking a dumb question but this has my perplexed. Thanks for the help. :chevy

:yesnod: That's it. The casting date is on the passenger side rear end of the engine on the transmission flange just below of the distributor.

It depends on when it was made. Some are where Tom and Mark describe. On earlier '69's like mine you will find the casting date for the block on the lower passenger side of the block, near where the starter would be if it was installed. The letter/number codes will be raised (not flat) and by this time may be hard to decipher. I found mine there and it turns out that the block was made the same day as one of the heads, the other head was made the next day. Pretty neat.
