Can someone decode these Alternator numbers for me...
The alternator is sitting in a 1973 vette, with no-AC. It is a AC Delco alternator with the following numbers on it:
1102902 - 61A
6K26 - 12VNEG
Any ideas guys?
Thanks,
Michael.

61 Amps. Assembly date Nov. 26 of the year "6". Could be 66, 76. Don't have my part # books handy. The part number will tell you the exact year it was assembled and used, 1966, 1976, 1986?. Hope this helps. Chuck

Re: Can someone decode these Alternator numbers for me... (Chuck Gongloff)
Chuck I was wondering, if I install an AMP that has a higher rating than my 1973 vette is running off now... do I run the possibility of burning me internal wires and stuff? I mean I would like to upgrade it to say 85 amps... would that be a problem, or even a safety issue?
Thanks Chuck,
Michael.
Thanks Chuck,
