Default Taking my baby to the SCCA open race tomorrow...

Any suggestions, other than getting a helmet? Tips, hints? My car handles nice, but I'd like to go in prepared.

You'll need to remove your hubcaps before you race. If your local SCCA club is anything like the one here, your helmet will need to be Snell2000 approved in order to use it.

As far as driving goes, get there early to be able to walk the course and be familiar with it before you take your car on it. If there are any veterans, watch to see where the walk it because they will most likely be walking it where they plan to be running their car.

One most important thing in Autox is being smooth. The smoother you can drive your car around the track, the better you'll do. If your jerking the car a lot, you'll be upsetting the balance of your car which will really cause you to slow done. It takes a lot of practice which is while the veterans usually do better ;) .

Have fun :D !
