My 79 has some weird seats it is the oyster colored interior but the seats are brown velour in the midle and oyster vinyl I've never seen another one like this is it rare?

No, it is not rare. At least at that time. But you cannot find that cloth these days to restore. It was on Camaros and Monte Carlos as well. I tried about three years ago but could not find so went to leather/vinyl.

paul79: Where did you get those seats they look neat becuase the seats in my car in need of repair being 23 years old. How much were they? Does your car have front and rear spoilers too? Thanks

I have the same type of covers in my 73 corvette. They are vinyl seats with a strip of cloth running down the center. I have never seen any other car with them so I simply thought they were some "aftermarket" replacements that bubba had installed. They weren't a factory option were they?

Those seats came from Al Knoch. Completed assembled. I just popped them in. They were about $625.00US two years ago. I am very pleased with the quality.

Yes I have the RPO D80 spoilers; of 53,807 1979s produced, 6,853 buyers chose that option. Needless to say, I enjoy trivia ;).

Cloth inserts were part of the standard interior in '79. Leather was a no-cost option in '79. Since many feel it is an upgrade, the leather interior was more popular. My '79 has the cloth interior. Unfortunately, it is no longer available. Too bad, I think it looks better than the leather.

In my 80 that had the original well worn leather, I had a local upholstery recover mine in cloth. May not be original, but it's a lot cooler in the texas heat.

Here is a car that is similar to mine.. mine has these same seat covers? Are they aftermarket or not? (Factory?)
