Blemish repair after K36?
Help, I have a blemish...hehe
anyway..
I shot the ppg k36 primer this weekend and sat down (bent over) to sand it down with the 600 grit paper. Low and behold I find a nick and two pin holes. I don't know how I could have possibly missed them. I have sanded the complete car four times now. I tried sanding them out but they are too deep.
Should I sand down, fill and reprime? If so How do I add enough primer in that one spot to even out the surface?
I,m lost and don't want to make a move until I hear from the experts.
Thanks for your help.

Terry; For a few nicks and pin holes I would fill them with polyester putty. Let it cure, sand smooth, and spot prime the area. If you haven't been using a guide coat I would highly recommend it for checking imperfections. Good Luck, Craig :chevy

Thanks Craig,
I've been following the instructions Lars posted in the tech section. I am using a guide coat.
Thanks again!

The Evercoat Plasticworks-Corvette Panel Advisive works great for these kind of items. Get it at you paint supply store.

3M (and I'm sure others as well) makes a product just for this application...filling pin-holes and scratches. It's a glazing putty (can't recall the precise name). I comes in a tube and requires no mixing. It is essentially a high-solids filling primer, so you spread it on with a body putty board and then sand it down. You don't need to re-prime over it since it is, again, a primer.

Terry; I am going to have to disagree with Gerry. I would not use a non catylized putty because they are lacquer based and may shrink. The 2 part putties don't cost anymore and will cure faster and not shrink. Also I would prime over the putty to insure that it is totally smooth and free of scratches. Good Luck, Craig :chevy
