How much arc should a new 7 leaf spring have?
I bought a new 7 leaf spring for my 76.
It measures 6" arc, uninstalled.
Pictures I see advertizing springs for sale, look to have way more arc.
How much arc should a 7 leaf spring have?
Maybe the pictures are of 9 leaf springs. Do they have more arc than 7"s?

John, The 7 leaf does not have a lot of arch. I can send you a picture tonight comparing the 7 leaf to the 9 leaf. Rod :cheers:

Not much arch at all compared to the 9 leafer. Had one recently, but gave it to a friend for his car, so I can't measure. Chuck

Found a picture of my spring collection, all recently departed. The 7 leafer is the second from the top. You can compare the arch with the other 9 leafers. Chuck

The price was right. I got them all for free at a friends Corvette shop. Used one to pirate leaves to rebuild the 9 leafer on my 69. After I was done, I gave the 7 leaf and one 9 leaf to Rowdy Rat (posts on this BB). Gave the other 3 or 4 to one of my Bel Air Corvette Club "buds" for him to rebuild his spring. So, my extensive "spring" collection is history...thank God :) Why not buy a new spring, you ask? The current repro's and GM replacements don't have the same configuration as the originals. Chuck
