msd 6a instalation in stock 80
got a msd6a the other day without instructions..idid go to the msd web site for instructions but still a little unsure of the instalation procedure..can someone give me inchild language the basic instaation procedure to my stock 1980L-82..best location for the msd..best ground spots..and which wires go to where..tools needed ect. ect...i would like to try connect the unit tommorow but not sure how to start..thanx all.... :D

I've got an MSD 6AL on mine. I didn't install it, it came like that, but I can show you where mine is mounted

I hope they didnt cut the wires to run it on a 4 cyl. or 6 cyl. ?
check that now....in the instructions it says to cut in the side hole compartment on the MSD, the extra wires to down size your MSD for the amount of cylinders your engine has..........hope they are uncut !!!!
then also get the wiring harness....they got em at JEG's http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...splay?121-8873

If you don't have room in the engine compartment or want it to be 'incognito', mine was mounted under the passenger seat by the previous owner. :cool:

It seems to make a good amount of power. It has a nice lopey sound at idle if you like that kinda stuff. I have a few issues with my setup, but not really cam related. It's not a daily driver for me, but it could be after I fix the A/C and leaky windshield.

i got this unit from another forum member who upgraded to a msd 6al so it should be set-up for my vette with all the wires there..now where they go is another story..the link to the site was done when i tried...
