What block machining is required to use OEM roller lifters?
I've always heard that older blocks need to be machined to use OEM-style roller lifters. What specifically needs to be done? I was looking through my trusty Summit catalog and there's a huge price difference between OEM hydraulic roller lifters and "retrofit" hydraulic roller lifters.
What would a machine shop charge to do this? Probably whatever the price difference is...

I won't say it's impossible, but nearly so, and very expensive....need add bolt bosses or fabricate another spring steel plate to hold the keepers down, once the lifter valley tops are machined flat...not an easy job....
forgetaboutit, junkyard source an '87 up truck block.....
