Never changed valves without removing the heads. Is there a way to do it without removing the heads? I dont have air pressure to hold em up. I read you can push rope into the cylinders to keep em from coming through but was wondering if anyone has dome it a different way??

How do 2" diameter things fit through a hole the size of the valve stem.

You have to remove the heads to change valves. Do you mean valve springs?

Actually I wanna change the valve stem seals...

You can use two methods:

Remove the rocker arms. Then either....

1) ... get pressurized air in the combustion chamber by means of an adapter for the spark-plug hole (fabricate it from an old plug). Before you open the valve lock, tap the spring retainer with an appropriate nut and a mallet to loosen the valve locks. To compress the spring, make yourself a "steel-fork" which has a hole in the middle that goes over the rocker-arm-stem and will be supported by a big (appr. 1") nut on the one side and the valve spring retainer (fork end) on the other. Press it down by turning the rocker arm stud nut (remove rocker arm first...) clockwise. Watch the valve to stay up!!
If the valve drops you can get it up again by VERY carefully turning the crank - but first remove all other spark plugs (to enable a smoother turning) and squirt some engine oil in the chamber.

or

2) ...get about 4 feet of rubber-hose that you can push through the spark plug hole to „fill“ the chamber. After you filled it with hose as much as possible, turn the crank carefully (first remove all other spark plugs to enable a smoother turning) to press the rubber hose up a little more. That will hold the valve up. Removal of valve spring as above.
