Rebuilt or Remanufatured Carbs
If memory serves me correct, REBUILT carburetor from parts stores is cwap, :nono:, not even an option.
But what about remanufatured Holley carbs from Holley? Same boat? How does Holley obtain carburetors for remanufacture? Their price is attractive. Is new the best way to go?
Thanks for all replies.

I had a remanufactured (by Holley) Q-jet . I was terrible. At any thing less than WOT the 454 it was on had about as much throttle response as a 4 cylinder. Holley had eliminated an important function of the Q-jet. Send you old carb to Lars in Denver, or buy a new one. :spam

I bought a remanufactured Holley for about 350 bucks (on my '87 MAZDA truck) since they don't make new ones anymore and went through 4 carbs before I got one that worked right....Then on my last one there was a throttle body fine crack near the top...But at least it idled...I thought a company with a reputable name would do better....

Years ago, you could get a decent rebuild from a parts store, now they are all nearly worthless. The last one I bought was in such bad shape that it should have never been rebuilt. One of my friends was able to make 1 good carb out of 3 parts store junkers. Everyone of the 3 had a different fatally flawed part.
You are better off buying a new carb or taking your chances with a used one that you can send to Lars or Tom454 for a real rebuild.
