Default crank date ?

Hi
My 68 big block got overhauled in 1991 and a complete crank kit from TRW with .030 over pistons got installed with new crank and rods. 427 CI
If I check the date of the crank, it appeares to be H187 , does this mean
cast in 1967 ? Or is it H181 ?
This was a new kit purchased in 1991 !
I'm wondering if they sell old ( unused ) parts in this kits.
Thanks Gunther

Gunther, those are 1's so the date is H161 or H181 (can't tell from here).

So the year could be any year any ending the nubmer 1. Post the crank casting number so we can figure out which year it is.

Thanks, Allan
Yes, I thought it's ones ( 1 ) , not 7 , but wasn't sure anymore.
I couldn't find a casting number , but had only the oil pan off to check for type of crank. ( 427 or 454 ). Pan is back on now.
Sooner or later, I will anyway buid an hi-perf engine for this car.
This one is cast crank, cast rods with forged pistons.
In the TRW catalog, they call this crank kit a hi-performance kit, but since it's not fine balanced ( Custom balancing is mentioned as an extra and was to my knowledge not ordered ) , nor is it steel crank/rods , I don't think I can take it to the car's tach red line of 6.500 RPM without risking to blow the guts out.
Pls let me know if you ever drop over a correctly dated block for me.
The last one was still too expensive for the date being anyway too near to my cars date.
Thanks again. Gunther
