Default Double Pulley for Alternator

Where can I find a double pulley to put on my alternator? It sqeeks right now when i rev it up but I think If I put two belts on there, that should take care of it. There is an empty pulley on the fan that I would be able to put an extra belt on from the alternator.

Any suggestions on the sqeeking when I rev it up would be apprecaited also.

Thanks

Make sure the belt tension is right. If it is...about 1/4" of play in the center of 6" of belt between two pulleys and about 1/2" play on 12" between...then do this:

Take a bar of Ivory, rub down all three sides of the v-belt that contact the pulleys, all the way around the belt. Should fix the squeak.

It could also be bearings, but try the first two fixes first. :smash:

I have had problems in the past with squeeling belts. I had a whole set from Auto Zone that were very noisey AND they also stretched beyound being able to adjust any more. I replaced them with GM one and they have been fine for a long time. :nonod:

There's nothing to be gained by having 2 belts drive the alternator. The problem is elsewhere. Either the belt is loose, worn, the wrong V-size, or the alternator bearings are bad.

Thanks for the tips you guys. I'll give that all a try. I think maybe I might just get a new belt first and see what happens. Thanks again :D

I haven't read the replies, but I've got a simple tip. Try "Top Cog" belts. Also check the alignment of the belt and tension. If it's too tight, it's just as big a problem as being too loose.

IF you get a double pulley and use two belts, MAKE SURE you ask parts supplier for a "matched set"; the "PinkLinc" utilizes double pulleys, and that's what I got when replacement time came. :)
