Any of you running block heaters? I use one on one of my cars. Its made by Wolverine. It attaches to the bottom of the oil pan with adheasive backing. Plug it in at night and it warms the oil and the heat rises up into the crankcase. Much quicker starting with less stress on and wear on the engine.

I don't use a block heater, but I could understand using that... and it really sounds like a good idea to me. Cold starting is hell on an engine. How much does one cost, and how hard is it to set up? (I know, I live in a warm climate, but anything to keep my baby from stressing.)
How warm does the block get?
-Steve

I remember back in '78 when I ordered a new Bonneville, two of the options available were an engine block heater and an oil heater.

My Vette though is not a summer or winter daily driver though.

i used a moroso one that glued to the bottom of the pan and heated the oil up to about 180 degrees worked very well.

I paid $50 for a Wolverine oil heater that peels and sticks to the oil pan. You clean the bottom of pan to metal. Peel and stick and surround the edge of patch with RTV sealer. Then just route the plug to your chosen posistion. On my old beater car it pokes through the grill in the corner. Piece a cake. Moter cranks way faster in cold starts when heater is being used.
