Jegs vs. Summit??
Neither for me unless im in a hurry.
I got a book from this company called https://www.carpartsonsale.com a while ago at a nice cheap price..
Anyway, i decided to compare some prices to summit, mainly NOS products, but i notice a difference in basically all type of products. The total for summit was $695, and the total for carpartsonsale.com was ~635, and then you click on a little image of "Harry the Hagler, and it gave me another 4% off my whole order making it $612. Thats a heck of a difference in my opinion....
only thing is, shipping is not as fast as summit or jegs probably, and im sure customer service isnt as good.
But they are a legitimate company (a friend and I have ordered from before, so we believe so), and seem extremely cheap.

That may be so but after 40 years of wrenching I've learned that price isn't always the determining factor. I placed an order with Summit on Monday of this week at 8:30 AM. Around 11 AM I decided to order one more thing so I gave them a call to add the part to my order. The order had already been shipped!!!But because the order was already shipped they waived the handling charge on the second order. Both orders arrived before noon on Wednesday. For that kind of service and the technical help they offer I'm willing to pay a few percent extra. I've had good service from Jeg's also. On the rare occassion that I've had a problem with parts Summit has told me to return them with no questions asked.

Summit gets most of my money but I've had excellent service from Jegs also. I'm close enough to Summit's Reno warehouse to get next day deliveries if I order early so that's been a factor for me. I haven't tried the outfit you posted about though (your link didn't work for me). Some of the other ones I have checked out wound up costing way more because of shipping charges or because they were located in state and added sales tax.

Both Summit and Jeggs are good, most of my business is with Summit. Price should not be the over riding issue. I go with good service and quality. :smash:

I've been extremely pleased with both Jegs and Summit, normally whoever has the best price gets my money between the two. I had to send a clutch back to Jegs recently and they were very helpfull with my return and crediting my credit card :yesnod:

Re: Jegs vs. Summit?? (73 LS-4)
Jegs used to be my choice, but recently its been Summit because they had a few features before jegs, like order status, and summit webpage is definitely easier to find stuff on IMO.
I agree that summit and jegs customer service is superior and I will probably do most business with them, but thought id share this company for anyone that might be interested. IMO, the more options, the better off i am. One thing about this new site though is, its definitely not easy to find parts....easiest thing to do is find a jegs or summit part# and search the last set of digits(which are usually the manufacturer part#) in the carpartsonsale.com webpage.
Like i said, just informing members in case the might be interested. :seeya

I've built 2 motors in the last two years, you can't beat Summit overall. Heck, I was able to send parts back for full price 6 months later. You can't do that with Eckler's.

Both are excellent. I've returned alot of stuff that I ended up not needing after all to Jegs with no hassle whatsoever. To me consistently good customer service is worth a minor price premium.

Re: Jegs vs. Summit?? (74VETTE)
Both Summit and Jeg's are GREAT! I usually order online from both, and get my parts after two days. :D
But I'll give CarPartsOnSale a try! Thanks!
That's very true. Actually I started ordering from Jeg's instead of Summit just because their web site was better--on Summit's site I could only find a part if I had a part number at hand. Now I think that Summit's web site is better--they tell you before you order if something will be back-ordered, and how many days it will take for the part to be shipped, and their online order tracking system rocks!

Re: Jegs vs. Summit?? (74VETTE)
I have been using Summit since the mid-80's for various projects. They are close to me so there's no shipping involved. Prices are sometimes higher than Jegs and sometimes lower, but being able to look at the parts at the counter is a big plus. Have only dealt with Jegs once, and had a hassle returning a "damaged in shipping" part (even noted on the ups sheet). Summit has more in their online catalog than their printed catalog, and the online catalog is easier to browse than Jegs.

Re: Jegs vs. Summit?? (Pedro'74)
CarPartsOnSale does have good prices, however as indicated earlier there customer services is terrible.
Last things I ordered from them took 3.5 weeks and several followups on my part. They don't respond well via the internet, so I was forced to call them. Which they don't respond well via telephone either. If you want cheap and don't care about customer service or delivery time - they are great!
