I haven't checked out the pics yet but I'm sure I'll be impressed, just like everytime I visit your site. Funny thing is, I was thinking about your project just a couple days ago and I was wondering when you were going to post an update. Thanks for keeping us informed.

sharklover – Making an MPEG of this thing without sound would be sacrilege!! I’ve got a film crew ready to roll. We’re going to position multiple mikes around the room to get this dang thing in quadraphonic!!

Neil- Thank you! Your project looks like it’s coming right along as well! I would love to see some shots of your Goat. My very first muscle car was a 69 Judge which I wrapped around a tree like the young idiot I was. One day I hope to have another one…

:seeya Look's Awesome :yesnod: I think you should name it "My Obsession" or "Death Machine." "Death Machine" was the name of my buddys 68' Mako Shark that he used to show back in the early 80's. :yesnod:

Intimidator454 - I think either of those names would fit very well! I never realized you had a lightning rod in that thing. One of the coolest shifters ever made. I fell in love with them after seeing one in a Hurst Olds...

I used to own one... an 83' Hurst/Olds and always loved them shifters :D So every car after that; I have installed "Lightning Rods" in. I have another set of "Lightning Rods" for one of my other vettes maybe?

Steve,
Your comment about wrapping the GTO around a tree reminds me of my dad's story about his first GTO. I asked what ever happened to it and he said that when he was driving it one of the many times at 120, some idiot pulled out in front of him and when my dad tried to stop and swerve, he ended up hitting a tree. I'm surprised you put the blame on yourself. I've never done anything stupid in my life. :jester

Intimidator454 - Can you even buy those things any more? I figured they were getting to be collectors items. I might like to put one in a car someday..

sharklover - The sad part is that I wasn't drunk or racing. I was coming home from dropping my dad at the airport. I hit a slick of something that a big truck probably dumped on the hwy. The oils combined with the rain was all she wrote. I romped on the gas & the next thing I knew I was in the trees. Hopefully not a portend of things to come with Merlin...

Steve,
I hear ya on the slick stuff. I hit some black ice about a year ago in my truck. Luckily no other cars were around me because I spun completely around and slid backwards on the highway  before going off the embankment and rolling. I was 100 miles away from home. Not fun at all.

BTW, I saw the pic of those Lightning Rods.   How do you operate those shifters??? I'd probably get confused and somehow throw it into first from third. Sweet interior and beeeeaaaautiful vette.

Thanks

We got them from some place in Oregon. Call Bill down at Pacific & he should be able to hook you up. They were the biggest ones we could find which still looked "reasonable"..
