weak brakes
I have an 81 and the pedal seems to go down to far and I can not lock up the brakes either.I replaced the master cyl and have bled the brakes many times. There is plenty of vacuum at booster and when disconnected the pedal is very hard as it should be.All my pads are in good shape and no fluid leaks.
I don't want to just start replacing parts till it's right.

I had the same problem and it turned out that I was getting air in thru my front calipers. The brakes would be good when I bled them but they would go bad fast. I had no fluid leaks and every single other part of the brake system was new. After new front calipers the brake are as hard as a rock.
Years ago I had a brake problem like yours and it was the metering block or some people call it a proportionate valve. I bled about 4qts thru the system and the brakes wouldn't get hard. I tried a couple of master cylinders. I got another metering block at the junkyard for five bucks and it cured the problem.
