Vortec Manifold 1/2" Taller than Edelbrock Performer...Darn!!
Has anyone with a "72" L48 hood config managed to get a Vortec head/intake set-up to work? I know the Edelbrock Performer will fit from previous post, but the RPM can be a problem. It does not look like I am going to be able to get this set up to fit under my hood. :cry

I'm in the process of putting on Vortec heads and a Vortec Performer on my car. From what I can see everything should fit. Now the Vortec Performer RPM might be a problem. Drop-based air cleaner with a 3" filter, might work with that combination.

What Carb are you using? What is diameter and height of your air cleaner?Vortec intake requires electric choke?
Thanks !!

Check out my post on similar setup (not vortec) . You might have to lose the choke though( don't need it)...

As I understand it, the Vortec heads exhaust ports also are about 0.200" higher than original. That will cause a refit of the collector to exhaust pipe connections.
