change from Manual choke to electric What would I need
I am looking into changing from my Edelbrock 1405 Manual choke carb to a Holley 650 with electric choke. My car had a quadro jet with a temp choke originally. What would I need to make this work??
Thanks

If the Holly has the electronci choke unit on it all you would have to do is to run a wire to a constant hot. I used the positave side of the alternator for my Edelbrock.

You should actually have it hooked to 12 volt "keyed " power so you only have 12 volts going to the choke when you have the igntion turned on. on th Hei some people tap it at the distributor. :)

I am planning on changing my distributer also. I`m going to go with a performance HEI. Put a dominator intake on also. This Edelbrock I can`t get tuned in. It probably just needs rebuild and jetted.
Thanks

I'm going to change carbs soon also. Aren't there issues with tapping in at the distributor? How much does the choke draw? Does anyone know if there's any other readiliy available locations?
thanks

On my car, a '72, I have an anti-run on solenoid for the throttle linkage that has 12v keyed power, and thats where I tapped into.

It's a little more work, but when I did an electric choke on a car I owned, I put in an oil pressure switch and ran the hot lead through that switch to the choke. That way, if you turn on your key and leave it on for a few minutes without starting the car, you still have choke. If you wire directly to switched 12V, anytime the key is on it will be heating your choke. It's not too hard to put in a T at your oil pressure sending unit and put in a switch.
