If you have time sometime, can you e-mail me offline any and ALL details on how to do this so as not to waste forum space.
I am interested in how to do this alone, what damage if any it does to not have the proper lift, EVERYTHING that had to be disconnected,any pitfalls, in other words any and all advice, Do's, Don't's, as I am contemplating doing this.
I have a 68 coupe with the engine out, and the doors off, transmission out and interior seats are out.

this is a good point to start!
To my mind, first put in the doors again, cause they will stabilize the body.
Unbolt the bodymounts and all connections body to frame.
Get the lift kit or even a hoist and place the liftingpoints to the steel subframe of the body, shortly in front of the door on both sides and to the end of the door.
Then lift......
I m doing this currently too, be sure you have unbolted each and every line and cable and hose!

On a convertible it´s recommended to use metal bars, which connect doorhinge and lock. (just like the door does if it´s closed, but the connection is better and stronger......

I did my 68 alone and without a lift. It was a bit unorthadox and required patience. E-mail me if your interested in the details.

Thanks to all for the input and much needed help.
Part of me is scared to death to do this because maybe I should leave well enough alone, and another part of me says," You've come this far, why not do it all the way and do it right" This was supposed to be a quick paint job to improve the appearance and one thing led to another and it has been since August 1995. I'm worried that I will never get it back together as I am not 21 years old. I am also worried that I will create stress cracks or do some damage in the process. Has anyone had any experience with that aspect and are there pitfalls to watch out for?

69shark. I was wondering about that method. Did you use the straps that are in all the catalogs? and a regular engine lift? I have a pair of those yellow straps and i thought they might be to long. Tom75 :chevy
