Default She's ALIVE!!!

Just put the rebuilt carb back on. All the lines and such fit back into place, I only took it for a short spin around the block. It ran OK. How sensitive is the idle speed adjustor.. seemed pretty "numb" to me  . Otherwise everything seems ok, next i will locate the clicking rocker and get rid of that noise. Spring and fixing the [new] :mad rear calipers is next... maybe i should do it all at the same time.

Thanks again Tom for helping me! I'm sure i'll be calling you pretty soon. :) I'm gonna try to get that rocker, and adjust the carb as best as i can within the next 2 days. Let me know when you are gonna do some more work on the engine. I'll come by to give you an extra hand. Thanks again!

Thanks! for the encouragment. It's frustrating at times but when you fire it up inside of the garage and the whole house resonates its all worth it. :seeya

Jenny...

As we already discussed... you should now bring the whole car over and I will "tweak" it for you.
We knew there would be issues when you re-installed the carb.

Based on what I have seen of you so far, I will only have to show you once and you will pick up the ball and run with it.

We can install that FG spring in about 20 minutes as well.

Don't forget about the carb return spring issue.... need to fabricate a custom bracket.

Tom

Edit: RE: the engine... thanks for helping me yank it out.... saved me a lot of time.
The bores are 4.0005, with wear from .002 to .004 (.001 to .002 per side). I ridge reamed the bores and dropped the pistons out... found a cracked ring in #6. The walls are fine, and the bearings are in great shape. I am going to hone it, install new rings, cam bearings, main & rod bearings. The heads are "194 Fuelies" and the stock guides are .343 right on the nose... virtually no wear according to my plug gages. I will re-test using ball gages to make sure the guides are not fooling me with "egg-shape" which a plug gage will not pick up. There is wear on the valve stems (.3390) so I am buying new Manley SS valves. Plus, I test faced one intake valve and there is not enough margin left to allow re-use. The valves are GM T3's and are "toast". I tried pulling the valves from that other engine we tore down, but they were in the same sad shape.
