Large cam for the street. What are you going to use the car for?

Will need headers (if the chambered exhaust does not already have them) and low gears.

street use only with 3.08 gears torker II intake , stock manifolds and chambered exhaust ...what kind of problems will i have??????

That is a sweet hydraulic I have used before .114 Lobe Center Angle provides a broad power range but it is too much for you 3.08 gear.Step down to their 228@ 0.050 cam .I think it is ground on a 112 LCA.
Edited to add headers are worth around 50 hp along with a good sized cam ect.Something to think about if performance is your goal.

i've got a 71 BB conv., A/C car. I can assure you that unless you are building a serious high compression performance motor that cam will leave you disappointed, a little too much lift and way to much duration @ .050 for a stock or semi-stock 8.5 to 1 compression motor. When it comes to camshafts bigger is not always better. I was looking at my Summit catalog and was amazed that they have a Crane Energizer cam and lifters for like $75-80, not a bad cam for the street although it is an old single pattern. There were a couple of nice Lunati split pattern grinds I saw also for the $$$. Comp cams has a nice catalog online too. A wise friend (may he RIP) once told me that when looking through the cam catalog, pick the one you think you will need and then order the order the one above it (the next smaller one) and you can't miss. I forgot one important piece of the puzzle. The heads are at 10.0 to1 compression :cheers:

I am building my 454, ,060 over with Merlin iron heads and I have the cam you are talking about. I was told that the Crane 296-2 would be good for the street, big blocks have tons of torque anyway. Hopefully my friend is right?

Tom, with a good .250+ domed piston it should be strong combination, esp from about 3500 on up...BTW these open chamber heads have a 119cc combustion chamber. I am guessing they have the 310 cc intake runners? As the 345 cc heads were designed for all out racing applications

Should have about 9.1-1 compression with KB domed pistons.

I have run that cam with my 454 and found it OK. I tend to spin my motors a little higher then 6500 so eventually moved up to a solid 256 264 @ .050 and .648 lift. The hydraulic cam had good idle vacuum , the solid did not but really pulled in the mid range.
