Default Question regarding restoration of a 79 corvette....need info

Hello..I am restoring a 79 corvette and need some help..First question.. I
want to remove the rear spoiler for painting..But I know the bolts are going to
snap(Rust)..Are the bolts replaceable(If they snap can they be replaced fairly
easy)..Or will I have to replace the complete spoiler....My other question is
on the door jam by the upper hinge post where the jam comes up and meets the
windshield(above where the paint tag is)..There is a smooth flexible compounds
that feels like seam sealer...but it is so smooth I'm not sure if it is seam
sealer.. The smoothness doesnt seem right...Is it seam sealer...Any help with
these question would be appreciated..Thanks

If memory serves the bolts are like studs into fiberglass bosses on the underside of the spoiler - if you break these studs off I yhink you should be able to remove the remainder form the spoiler - replacements are as easy as sections of all-thread purchased from your local hardware store, in the same size thread and then epoxying them into the spoiler prior to reinstallation.

I sont have an answer for your seam sealer question sorry....

I'm sure someone else can chime in if I'm way off base..I'm basing this more on work I did to a camaro project than my vette (i dont have the factory spoiler)
