HELP! Installing Water Pump. Bolt hole stripped!
How deep are the bolt holes threaded for the water pump mounting bolts?
The first 1/4" of the lower drivers side bold stripped on me. :cry :cry
Can I get a bolt that's a 1/2" longer than the original one and be ok?

on most 350 engines all bolts EXCEPT the lower right goes into the water jacket. the lower right bolt does not go into the water jacket.
That is the only bolt that can't be too long. Remember also if ypou have too long a bolt in the other three which is possible it could be a b*tc h to get them out as the threads are then exposed to the coolant crud and rust.

Re: HELP! Installing Water Pump. Bolt hole stripped! (paso)
Got it.
I checked the depth. I had a bit to play with. I got another bolt 1/2 inch longer than the first one and it held and torqued down just fine.
phew :)
