Trouble with top end w/ a Edel. 600???
Does anyone have trouble with their top end from a Edelbrock 600 vac. secondaries?
I am getting ready to change the intake/carb. I am thinking of going with the Performer and a Edel 600 vac. sec.
My car has trouble with the bottom end (Holley 750 DP) and no trouble with the top but I'm looking for an overall top and bottom carb.

I dynoed a Holley 750 VS against a Edelbrock 800, and the Edelbrock lost 35 hp compared to the holley!
I think you might like the Holley #1850. It's a 600 CFM VS with street calibration (much better manners than a 750 DP).

I do, I'm working on the same problems as you, had my motor rebuilt this spring and had a Holly 650 dp with mech. sec. on it. It was great at high RPMs but wasn't good at the low end.
Yesterday, I put on an Edel. 600 and the low RPM are great, like a differnt engine. However at the top end it's a little weak. I did have the RPM to 6400 before one shift. I'm going to read up on it more and adjust the jetting and it looks like a few other things can be done too.
Not sure but I may be making more than 400 hp and could be running out of carb too.

Re: Trouble with top end w/ a Edel. 600??? (Tominator)
In the past year, I have run an Edelbrock 600, a holley 800 DP and a Quadrajet.
The winner please!
In the category of best overall performance and best low end....... THe Quadrajet.
In the Category of best top end performance and worst low end performance...... The 800 DP Holley
An honourable mention goes to the Edelbrock, because, I did not have any spare jets to tune it any better. But itwas in between the two, ok bottom end, ok top end. It just did not shine.
I currently have the Holley on the car, but its under a car cover till May. I plan to totally rebuild the Quadrajet and fix a couple of nagging problems that cropped up after I tuned it up according to Lars paper.
