Any suggestions on a dwell meter?

I have not checked myself, but you should be able to pick one up at Sears,Summit, Jegs, ect.... If at all possible, get one that is made to work with the 8cyl. I had a cool one years ago. I let a friend check his dwell on his SB ford in my driveway while I was busy working on my own car. Somehow, he managed to get the wires caught in the fan :mad :mad The one he gave me to replace it works on just about any number of cyl engines, but I need to use a chart on the back to convert the reading to the actual dwell. It's not confusing, but it still sucks to have to convert it.

Matt,
I got mine at Sears. It's one of those combined types--tach, volt, and dwell meter all-in-one.

I have a Heathkit that I toasted with an ignition spike... lost the schematic and can't fix it, so I bought the Sears unit as well. Finally went to use the dwell function after owning it for about a year, and the dwell function does not work. Sears will not replace the meter. They do not have an "unlimited" warranty on their meters (same as everyone else). So.. if you do buy the Sears (Craftsman) unit, check ALL of the functions as soon as you get home or be left on the outside looking in, like me..

You must have an E4ME carb that you want to work on, that's my guess as to why you would want one. If that's not the reason, my advice is HEI. :D

I use a digital automotive multi-meter that has a dwell setting. I got it from Eckler's a couple of years ago. Very accurate and useful for other stuff too. :D

I have a practically new one I bought from Sears. I will sell it to you for 20 bucks. I just purchased one with a higher RPM range.
