Weighing Heavy on my Mind...
Some of you may know I had the "new/newer" car itch, and was trying to sell my '70. I wasn't trying very hard though. I came across a '96 Collector's Edition Convertible, 6 speed, LT4 over in the "C4 For Sale Section" that I really like...its tearing me up to sell the '70 though. Having two toys is out of the question.
What are your opinions?

Eric, if you allready have the o/drive, and that car as pictured, and I remember that pix....well if you sell that in favor of any other vette, your' a damn fool.....bluntly....
if you want to update the car for less than a grand you can add L98 injection on it, and have it slick as it is now, and fuel economy too boot...

Go price the insurance for the 96 Eric. It was running me about $950 a year on my 96. It wasn`t a convertible either. Insurance on my 70 doesn`t even cost $200 year fully covered.
But those are great cars. I wanted a LT4 bad when I was looking to buy mine, just couldn`t find one that was what I wanted.
It is a hard decision to make. I am kinda stuck in the C3 mode for a while now since my 96 is gone. Keep us posted on the turn out. I am sure you will get mixed results posting in the C4 and C3 sections.

Re: Weighing Heavy on my Mind... (Eddie 96)
Eddie, Hagerty will insure the '96 Collector's under an "Agreed Value" policy just like they do with our '70s. It is a bit higher becuase the Value is greater...but not that bad at all.

My .02 is if you sell your 70 you will want it back if you cant aford both then just do somting to the 70 that will make you happy. Because that is one nice 70 you have.

We'll, since I remember you asking this question at least once before, it doesn't look like you'll be happy until you make a change. If I bought a C4, it would definitely be the CE! IMO, the 'vert CE LT4 is the ultimate C4. :yesnod:

Eric, that $1500. is still here in Eunice  Man I don't know what to tell you. It still hurts me a little that I sold Killer at the show last year. But don't give your car away to get another. I only sell mine for top dollar :smash: Don't get in any hurry. Hey, how was the World O Wheels show? Thad

Re: Weighing Heavy on my Mind... (TNT)
Thad, I have Reserve Duty this weekend, so I am not at the World of Wheels. Instead I am working on A10s all weekend.
I don't think I want to go as low as $15,000.
See you at No Problem Raceway next month!

Drive a C4 & decide for yourself. Visit the C4 Forum & learn more about them.
If you get a C4 watch out for Cholo & others to welcome you to the C4 fraternity of the damned. LOL.
Another possibility- what's your other car, maybe replace it.

Well personally Eric, Your 70 is just about as sweet as they come, if you sell it, your going to want it back as sure as the sun is going to come up tomarrow, I just don't think your going to be happy once you have a later model. I like the C-4, but there is simply no way I'd sell my 79 to get one. Just no way. And remember, the grass is always greener on the other side , till you are on the other side, Then the grass is just grass, colors got nothing to do with it.
If I had your 70, No, I would not sell it for a C-4 at all. If you want a C-4 then why don't you lease on for a while.

Thad, Sure A10s break alot! There is always maintenance to be done too. But these jets were built in the late '70s, and parts are getting old.

I say don't sell!!!!!!! My brother has a C-4 and there's a little more comfort to be had, but he never gets the looks of my 70! :yesnod: I also agree that you would regret your decision after you sold the car. Whatever you do I hope your happy with your decision, after all that's the most important thing. Good Luck

Re: Weighing Heavy on my Mind... (Warp70)
I own a 2001 Z06 and two 1980's
I've upgraded the 1980's with EFI, Vette Brakes & Suspension kits, ROD 6 speeds. I like them so much that I am considering selling the Z06 - after the recession clears up!
