Deer whisle things
I was thinking about putting those deer whisle things on the under side of my vette to hopefully scared of any nearby deer. Has anyone else done this and do they really work?

I read something a few years back in Consumer Reports that said something to the effect the the most those things would do is make the deer look up before you plowed into him, and the worst is that it might spook it into the road instead of scaring it back from it.

I put some on my Mazda S2000 pickup in 1993, I drove the thing from 1984 until 1992 and never came close to hitting a deer. Three weeks after I put them on my truck a deer ran accross the highway into the side of the bed.
I took them off the next day. I think the damned things attract deer!

I drove for a few years without them and never had a problem. Decided to get some one day and that very same day, I had a deer run out in front of me. I stopped and took them off the car (it wasn't the vette though).

Re: Deer whisle things (sharklover)
I was never sure if they worked until I hit an Elk on the highway in Jasper one summer night. While I was waiting for Park Services to come and euthanize the thing, I could tell which cars going by had whistles because the Elk would try to get up and run away on its shattered legs before I could even hear the car coming, but vehicles without deer whistles it just ignored completely.

They have been proven to be BOGUS!!!!!! I don't know how they can even(legally) sell them as advertised yet. :bs
A local guy got a grant to develop a new type of "whistle". They have spent mucho bucks already and it's not looking too promising so far.
