It's one of those older Shelbys and you notice the comment about Vette grudge match. That happens to be me.
Here's My set up:
350
L-98 alum heads
TPI fuel injection
24 lb injectors
52cc throttle body
Custom chip
Mild cam
10 to 1 compression
Headers
basically open exhaust
auto with shift kit
3:55 rear
Last dyno was before the chip was right and it produced alittle under 200 hp at 2800 rpms. The computer then kicked in to much fuel and flooded the motor. Torque was at 280 at 3000. Est horse now at 300+ and 400 lb of torque.
He also will not let me use the funny gas. http://www.geocities.com/kk5ye/index.html

i dont know if you would beat him in the eighth. i think it would be better for you if you raced the quarter. his gears are pretty high and that will help him, except your vette should really hook up. i say its gonna be a real race :)

What I saw looked to be a 428? With that small cam and 3.89 gears and Locker He will leave pretty good with slicks.Even without a stall.Without knowing what mods are to his heads ect looks like 350-375 hp Ford.He is a few good parts away from being a 12 second car.As is who knows in the 1/8? Go for it!

He's running street slicks. I have access to 8" slick, but I'm afraid to break the rear end or u-joints.

He has more torque and a better gear for the 1/8th or 1/4, and don't expect him to spin the tires at the track. He may not know how to tune. That would be the difference in his car running high 12's or high 13's, if not 14 flat. If he does get everything out of that oval motor you better use the juice... or lose.

If you just compare motors that is one story. If you compare drivers and cars that is different. He might be faster on paper but if you are a better driver and can hook better you will win every time. I ahve seen plenty of 500 HP cars run in the 13s because they are driven poorly. There was an article in one of the mags of a guy running in the 11s with a 440 hp small block Nova. It hooked up well and was light. Go out and practice and beat him up. :D

Yea, I hear you. I guess I have two advantages. One his car is not tuned and the other is he has not driven the car for about 6 months. Regardless if I beat him, he will have every excuse in the world to warrant a rematch.
It funny also, last night I was hanging with the guys and they were saying the same things you guys were saying. Hook up, tuning etc. Hopefully they will not go over to Shelby Bill's house and tune that beast.

On paper, he should beat you. But of course races aren't run on paper. Do what you need to do and represent. Afterall, it's only a race. Do some test and tune before the big showdown.

Re: You guy's think I can beat this guy in the 1/8th? (69 N.O.X. RATT)
I went out to the new construction area today and practiced lanches. I tried everything. Remember I have street tires on fresh grooved concrete.
First launch was dead stop and punch it. Result-Sideways.
Second launch at 3000 rpms. Result-Total brake loose and big cloud of smoke.
Third launch at 1500 rpms. Result-Better, but tires spin 60 ft.
Round four-Babied it off the line and nail it. That was the best, but still spinning.
I guess slicks are the only anwser.

Are you planning on racing on the street or the track? If on the track I'd be more worried about the car falling on it's nose at the line then losing traction. I'd be stunned if you blew the tires loose on a track, even with street tires.

I sincerely hope this will be done at a drag strip. If all things were equal reaction time would win. Just remember you are having fun and it is not your living,so if you scrub a run no big deal.
