Default Opinions on Aftermarket hoods

The MoneyPit now sports an aftermarket L-88 type hood. It is non-functional, with the exception of the open cowl area. Can anyone post a pic of what a factory L-88 hood looked like? I kinda like the aftermarket hood. What do you guys think? Do you guys think that aftermarket hoods make C-3's it look like a Bubba machine. I do not particularly care for other makes of cars with aftermarket hoods. The 'pit will never be a NCRS car. I just cruise in it. I have the orginal hood, however, I have clearance problems right now that I am going to clear up with a shorter manifold in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the reply. Your car looks great. Did you have some sort of clearance problem with the airgap manifold. What type of hood did you start with. The reason I asked for pictures of a factor L-88 hood,is that I was curious if it was different from a regular big block hood. I really like the factory big block/LT1 hoods. I am just curious if the big honker of a hood I have is a bit to much. It was needed before I got the car as the previous owner had a 502 with a fairly tall single plane one it.

i put the airgap on after i did the hood it was the stock hood that i cut and raised.your hood wont be too much just gives you room to expand later on..taller intake..nitrous plate..supercharger :D :yesnod: it never ends...

pat...

I think i read on here a few months back, that the stinger hoods arent functional until you cut out the front vent... not positive, but thats what i remember reading

Also your hood looks pretty cool, does the top curve out to the edges? or is it the lighting?

...and you would be right! :)..I cut mine out...Umm..*thinking*..can't remember which page it is..but you can see the ''Progress'' at the ''perfection in Progress''. I think it is Page 3 0r 4.

..I just went and checked....Page 3 is the new hood and the start of the ''gills''. Page 4 shows the cuttingout the scoop.

Like my Twin aka (LakotasRose) said you have to cut it out for it to work. I have not because I aready had a forced air inductions system in place.

I don't have pics of mine, but it looks like we did the same thing. The only thing different is I used a shiny hoses to help reflect heat.
