New 383 on the Dyno today HP ok TQ wow!!
Well I finally saw it run today. We made some short dyno pulls to adjust the carb jetting. Ended up with Timing set at 32 deg full adv, primary jet 72 and secondary jet 75 in my holley 750.
But the real question is:
Peak RWHP = 338.5 @4750 RPM (kinda low?)
Peak RWTQ = 389 wow lotta TQ @4400
I thought the TQ would be a lot less and I thought the HP would be higher and occur at a higher RPM. I think those 2" glasspacks in the sidepipes are restricting quite a bit.
Engine 383
CR 9.8:1
Canfield 195 heads 2.055/1.6 blended port
Holley 750 milled primary
RPM Air Gap (yes it fits under my 69 SBC orig hood)
more specs to follow
:D :D :D :flag

Those numbers are pretty nice, and yes I would say those 2" glasspack muffler inserts are holding you back a little bit. With a stroker engine you are going to have a good bit of torque. I find it kind of strange that your peak horsepower came at such a low RPM. What kind of cam are you running?

Those are strange numbers with your torque peaking at 4400rpm I'd expect peak horsepower close to 6k rpm not at only 350 rpm over peak torque. I'd say something is deffinitly choking it at higher RPM. Albeit it would be a great grunt engine where it's at, but I'm sure that's not exactly what your looking for.

Re: New 383 on the Dyno today HP ok TQ wow!! (zwede)
Bence, Cam is Comp cams XE274H with 1.6 roller tip rockers
Zwede, The air horn is pretty close but the primary is milled. I did run it with the cleaner off and got about 10 more HP. Changing the carb jetting also raised the RPM of peak HP but came up with slightly less power :flag
