I ALMOST bought ( the company had a layoff, and a 10% pay cut for those remaining like me ) a Hurst Quarterstick pistol grip. It was beautifull! Fet nice too, very solid. It also had good lockouts for neutral and reverse...

I bought the B&M TransKIT It has everything to rebuild the tranny in it-plus the shift kit. Soory,I haven't got to the tranny yet so I don't have a report to give you.

I agree. The B&M Shift Improver was a great mod for $30.

Allright, I'll show my ignorance. What exactly does the Transpak do, and what is the reason for installing one? I've read a little about them, but the ones I saw were for trucks and SUV's. Where do you get them at?

Direct from B&M's site..

The next step beyond the Shift Improver Kit. The Transpak has all the
features in the Shift Improver Kit plus it provides additional driver manual control (GM TH-400, 350, Ford C-6 & Chrysler Torqueflite only). Most conventional automatic transmissions won't downshift into low gear above 15 mph, and automatically upshift at a predetermined speed no matter what gear you are in. With a Transpak you can downshift at any speed, you can also hold the transmission in first gear to any speed that you want. This is an asset when towing a trailer or driving heavy loads downhill.

Basically it allows you to play more. Most of your auto parts suppliers should be able to get this, or you can do the mail order thing.

I have used TCI, B&M and Fairbanks and found them all to be about the same. With a Vette, you have a lot of U-joints to deal with so I wouldn't go too crazy on the level. They usually have stages 1,2 and 3. I personally have almost always run the 2 in my cars but for a Vette, I think I would lean more towards the 1 to keep from shocking the driveline on the 1-2 shift.

B&M shift improver kit for $30. Install it on the more agressive street/strip mode. A faster shift is actually better for the trans since the clutchs come togeather faster and have less slippage on initial pressure contact. When you shift from 1st to 2nd at 50mph, literaly, it feels like someones hitting your rear bumper. Its pretty cool feeling the seatback pushing you forward with a lunge at that speed. The TH400 is an awsome tranny. I never had one I was disapointed with.
