Default Best Torque Converter For Stock LS-5 BB?

What brand and type of higher-stall torque converter would be a good choice for a stock '71 LS-5 (8.5:1) with TH400? There are no obvious performance-enhancing engine mods, and if the cam is not stock, it is a mild improvement. Use will be for country touring, around-town driving, and the occasional stoplight challenge. I would love the SOTP feel from getting a slingshot launch at each green light  but I don't have it now. Right now, I've got to really lay on the non-power-assist brakes to keep it still at a stop.

I'm thinking of a 12" 2400-ish stall, maybe Precision Industries. Any better choices, and good on-line vendors for them?

Also, what would the rated stall speed be for the stock converter? I understand it can't be estimated correctly without a transbrake.

What does your car weigh and what rpm does your motor make peak torque?

A B&M Holeshot with 2400 rpm stall works good with a mild cam.

Oh sorry... curb weight is about 3900 pounds, with driver. Torque peak is at 3200 rpm, where it is supposed to make 465 lb-ft.

Reliability and craftsmanship may be the primary concern, but I still want a definite SOTP inprovement over stock. I'd only like to drop the tranny once, so I want to make sure I make a good choice the first time. :yesnod:

Would I be better going with a 9.5 inch converter, such as the Vigilante? Can converters designed for the 4L60E work with the TH400, or do I have to get a TH400-specific one? Is there any real difference between the TCIs and B&Ms, and the Vigilantes and Yanks?
