What's this made out of?
Just cut the dash to fit in a new radio and it took me TWO HOURS WITH A HACKSAW! I thought it was just plastic until I started cutting and found out it's not. Looks like steel cause it feels too heavy for aluminum.

On my '75 it's not aluminum, it's a heavier metal than that. What my Dad used to call "pot metal". Probably one of the reasons it cracks so easy. Some sort of mix, and cast for sure, you can still see some rough edges along the mold seam.

If that's the only place you've got to use your dremel cut-off wheel, then you must be one of those bastards^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hlucky people who didn't get a rustbucket 'vette ;)
I go through cutoff wheels like the car goes through fuel... :smash:

It does kind of look a little scrappy on the unpainted side. Would make sense if it was just pot metal. No big deal, cd changer is in and sounds very good :yesnod:
